Call for Papers
Following the success of the first edition, the 2nd IEEE International Workshop M&N 2013 aims to represent a forum for researchers and practitioners from industry, academia, and government interested in the areas of measurements, communications, computer science, wireless systems, sensor networks and to foster discussion on the role of both measurements for networking and networking for measurements.

Special session on “Dependability and security measurements in computer systems and networks”

Measuring the dependability and security of a given computer system or component is very dependent on many factors, either internal to the system (hardware and software) or external (environment or human made). Assessing system dependability is in fact a very difficult problem and has been addressed by using both model-based and measurement-based techniques and their combination. The problem is even more difficult when addressing security measurements as computer systems security is frequently disregarded by system developers and is largely dependent on unknown aspects about the system (i.e. vulnerabilities).
The goal of this special session is to provide a forum for discussing disruptive techniques and tools for the quantitative measurement and analysis of dependability and security attributes of computer systems.
Special session on Sensor Networks for Ambient Assisted Living

Ambient Assisted Living puts its focus in enabling technologies improving style and quality of life of weak people with particular regards to elderly. To such aim, advanced measurement systems and innovative sensing methodologies assume a fundamental role.
In particular Sensors Networks (SN) could be strategic to change the nowadays approach in terms of the amount of information which could be easily acquired and conveyed by such networks. Such strategies could improve localization features as well as monitoring tasks to acquire awareness of the environment and Activity Daily Living of weak users.
We strongly invite original research papers on this subject with the goal to generate an amusing discussion where novel ideas on how to exploit Sensor Networks for AAL can be shared within the audience. Submission are welcomed on:
- Overview of State Of The Art on SN for AAL
- Sensor Networks to improve life quality of weak people: “performance assessment”
- Smart multi-sensor systems for AAL
